Instructional Assistant Level Two

REPORTS TO: Education Director

SUMMARY:

The Instruction Assistant, Level 2 position exists to assist the program administrators, teachers, and other staff, including program implementation, development, and compliance. Assists and provides individual student support services for individuals and classrooms with as determined by their needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide staff training as directed by Administration
  • Support behavior and instructional program implementation
  • Supports classroom and school administrators as assigned
  • Help prepare, collect and set-up materials for student participation, following teacher direction
  • Assists and performs toileting, diaper changing and self-help/activities of daily living and needs of the pupils
  • Provides personal care, such feeding, toileting and self-help/ activities of daily living following teacher direction
  • Provide instructional, behavioral, or physical assistance to students individually or in small groups at the direction of the teacher to reinforce and follow up instruction
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher
  • Provides support to students across environments including school, community, and vocational settings
  • Assist with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling
  • Maintain daily activity logs for your assigned student(s)
  • Alert regular teacher to any problem or special information about your individual student (s)
  • Serve as the chief source of information for your assigned students to help any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers
  • Attends meetings and in-services as required
  • Assists in fire drills and accident prevention according to procedures indicated in the school Employee Manual
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the teacher and Director of Education

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Indirectly supervises ad directs staff as required for specific projects/duties.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, and directing work; providing input to administration regarding staff performance;

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university
  • One or more years of related experience, education, and or/ training or combination of experience and training beyond the BA
  • PDE teacher certification in any area or meet minimal requirements necessary to apply and receive Emergency Certification as a PA Certified Teacher
  • Computer and software skills including, but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google, Internet, and educational software
