A Special BCBA Opportunity

Royer -Greaves School for the Blind is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our school team and work directly with students, staff, and families.

This is an opportunity to work with a small population of approximately 16–25 students in a highly supported school environment. Students are served in small classrooms of approximately 6–8 students, with a Special Education Teacher in each classroom serving as the IEP Case Manager. Virtually all students have 1:1 instructional assistance, providing the BCBA with a level of classroom support that is uncommon in many school-based settings.

The BCBA will become an integral member of the Royer- Greaves educational team, working collaboratively with teachers, instructional assistants, families, and related service professionals.

A Highly Supported Environment

At Royer- Greaves, the BCBA is surrounded by a multidisciplinary team that includes:

  • Special Education Teachers serving as classroom leaders and IEP Case Managers
  • Instructional Assistants and 1:1 student supports
  • Speech and language services
  • Music and activities therapy
  • Visual impairment specialists
  • Physical activity and related support services
  • On-site nursing
  • Administrative and educational leadership

This structure allows the BCBA to focus on meaningful behavioral assessment, intervention, staff coaching, data analysis, and student progress rather than managing a large caseload in isolation.

Leadership

The BCBA will:

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop behavioral assessments and reports.
  • Develop and implement positive behavior support plans using evidence-based practices.
  • Assess student behavioral and instructional needs and develop individualized programming.
  • Monitor student data and make appropriate programming adjustments based on progress.
  • Develop systems and tools for staff to collect meaningful behavioral and progress-monitoring data.
  • Train, coach, and support classroom staff in the implementation of behavior support plans and instructional strategies.
  • Monitor the fidelity and effectiveness of behavioral interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with Special Education Teachers, who serve as IEP Case Managers.
  • Participate as a member of multidisciplinary teams and contribute behavioral expertise to student programming.
  • Support staff in understanding student behavior and developing consistent, positive approaches.

Skills and Attributes for Success

We are looking for a BCBA who:

  • Builds positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Has strong skills in behavioral assessment and positive behavior support.
  • Understands how to use data to guide decision-making and measure student progress.
  • Can translate behavioral concepts into practical strategies that classroom staff can implement.
  • Enjoys coaching and supporting teachers and instructional assistants.
  • Works collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Is committed to student dignity, independence, safety, and meaningful participation.
  • Appreciates the opportunity to work with a small population of students and develop a deeper understanding of their individual needs.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or a related field.
  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, multiple disabilities, behavioral needs, or complex learning needs preferred.
  • School-based experience is preferred but not required.
