Special Education Teacher

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The classroom teacher leads the classroom and community based instructional program for each student’s Individual Educational Plan.

Qualifications:

    • Valid A Certification in Special Education N-12 or Blind/Visually Impaired required
    • Multiple Disabilities experience at the secondary level preferred
    • Current child abuse, criminal history and FBI Fingerprint clearance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement students’ Individual Educational Plan and in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education regulations.

Ensure the implementation of instruction strategies, assistive technology, and material and environmental adaptations and accommodations for students with visual impairments.

Ensures the use of student communication systems throughout the day.

Implements specially Designed Instruction as outlined in the IEP.

Collects data and use data to make instructional decisions.

Develops and/or implements discipline or behavior goals/plans for students in conjunction with the Behavior Support Specialist.

Communicates with parents/others about child’s progress.
